UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026

The CSE remains the most competitive entry for IAS, IPS, and IFS roles. Notably, there are 933 vacancies officially announced for the 2026 recruitment cycle.

 

  • Notification Released: February 4, 2026

     

  • Prelims Exam Date: May 24, 2026 (Sunday)

     

  • Mains Exam Date: August 21, 2026 (5-day duration)

     

  • Eligibility: Graduates aged 21–32 (as of August 1, 2026).

     

  • Pattern: Prelims consists of GS Paper I (Merit) and CSAT (33% Qualifying).

UPSC Defense Services (NDA & CDS) 2026

For aspirants focusing on the Armed Forces, UPSC conducts these examinations twice a year.

1. NDA & NA (National Defence Academy)

  • NDA I Exam: April 12, 2026

     

  • NDA II Exam: September 13, 2026

     

  • Eligibility: Unmarried candidates born between July 2007 and July 2010 (for NDA I). Furthermore, 12th-pass students can apply for the Army, while Physics and Maths are required for Navy/Air Force.

     

2. CDS (Combined Defence Services)

  • CDS I Exam: April 12, 2026

     

  • CDS II Exam: September 13, 2026

     

  • Vacancies (CDS I): 451 Posts across IMA, INA, AFA, and OTA.

  • Age Limit: 19–24 years (IMA/INA) and up to 25 years for OTA.

     

UPSC Specialized Services 2026

UPSC also handles technical and medical recruitment for Group A central services.

 

  • IES/ISS (Economic & Statistical Services): Exam on June 19, 2026. This drive aims to fill 44 Group A vacancies for Post-Graduates in Economics or Statistics.

     

  • Combined Medical Services (CMS): Exam on August 2, 2026. Consequently, there are 1,358 vacancies for MBBS graduates to serve as Medical Officers.

     

  • CAPF (Assistant Commandants): Exam on July 19, 2026, for entry into BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB.
