SSC CPO 2026: Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police & CAPFs Recruitment

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially announced the timeline for the Central Police Organization (CPO) 2026 recruitment. This open competitive examination serves as the gateway for graduates to join as Sub-Inspectors (SI) in the Delhi Police and various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) including BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB.

1. Important Dates & Notification 2026

Furthermore, according to the latest SSC exam calendar, the registration window for the 2026 cycle is strictly defined:

  • Official Notification Release: May 31, 2026

  • Online Application Window: May 31 to June 30, 2026

  • CBT Paper 1 Exam Date: October – November 2026

2. Physical Standard Test (PST) Requirements

Additionally, the SSC CPO is unique due to its mandatory physical standards. Consequently, candidates who do not meet the height and chest specifications are disqualified immediately, regardless of their written exam scores.

3. Physical Endurance Test (PET) – Qualifying

    • 1.6 km Race in 6.5 minutes.

    • Long Jump: 3.65 meters (3 chances).

    • High Jump: 1.2 meters (3 chances).

    • Shot Put (16 Lbs): 4.5 meters (3 chances).

  • For Female Candidates:

    • 100m Race in 18 seconds.

    • 800m Race in 4 minutes.

    • Long Jump: 2.7 meters (3 chances).

    • High Jump: 0.9 meters (3 chances).

4. Exam Pattern & Selection Process

Therefore, to secure a post, aspirants must navigate a four-stage process:

  1. Paper 1 (CBT): 200 Questions (50 each in Reasoning, GK, Quant, English). Duration is 2 hours.

  2. PET/PST: Mandatory physical clearance as detailed above.

  3. Paper 2 (CBT): 200 Questions focused strictly on English Language and Comprehension.

  4. Medical Examination: Strict visual standards (6/6 and 6/9) and general health checks.
